Glacier Bay is not all ice and snow. It's climate varies from tundra to rainforest. There is actually a rainforest located in Bartlett Cove. There are also many forests with giant Hemlock, Conifer , and Spruce trees.
Tongass National Forest, One of the largest forests in the world, contains 14% of the worlds rainforest. Part of the Tongass houses itself in Glacier Bay.
Low rain clouds can be seen in this picture. Glacier Bay gets up to 70 inches of annual precipitation each year, whether that be rain or snow. Glacier Bay has a moderate, wet climate, so Rubber, Boots, rain gear, a hat, gloves, and layered clothing should be in a tourist's best interest.
Summer temps can go up to 50 to 60 degrees F. Winter gets temps from about 25 to 40 degrees F.
April, May, and June are normally the driest months of the year. September and October tend to be the wettest .
